Theater for SRHR “Aloi Aloi Notun Jibon” – Rangpur

On November 15, at 6:30 PM, the Aprajeo Tarunno (UYP Project), Rangpur Branch, organized a “Theater for SRHR” event at Chinia Para, Ershad Nagar. The highlight was a street play, “Aloi Aloi Notun Jibon” (New Life in Light), performed by a drama group of local adolescents and students.

The event began with a discussion chaired by Project Officer Animesh Roy and hosted by Youth Officer Swarnali Acharya. Shahin Badsha (Headmaster) and Harunur Rashid (Assistant Teacher) of Afanullah High School were present as special guests.

The speakers highlighted that creative mediums like theater are very effective for increasing awareness of Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) among youth. They emphasized that awareness about preventing child marriage, safe motherhood, and cancer prevention is crucial for social change.

The play, directed by Md. Ruman Sheikh and co-directed by Md. Sajim Islam, focused on:

  • The harms of child marriage.

  • Ways to prevent cervical cancer.

  • Adolescent changes and making informed choices.

  • Safe motherhood.

Following the play, a quiz competition was held, and participants who answered correctly received prizes. The event concluded with the honor ceremony for the drama team’s actors and directors, who were presented with stoles and medals.
