On the occasion of International Human Rights Day, a human rights awareness programme was organized at the Dhaka Centre under the initiative of UYP, with the participation of 30 adolescents and youth. The programme was graced by Dr. Sazzad Siddiqui, Professor and Acting Chairman, Department of Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Dhaka, as the Chief Guest. The session was moderated by Project Officer Tanjina Sultana, while the programme officially commenced with a welcome address delivered by Project Manager Md. Abu Raihan.
A PowerPoint presentation on human rights was conducted by Youth Officer Zubayda Anjum Saba, highlighting the fundamental concepts and contemporary relevance of human rights.
The event was divided into two sessions. In the first session, Dr. Sazzad Siddiqui delivered a comprehensive discussion on human rights and fundamental rights, with particular emphasis on the special protections and rights applicable to adolescents and youth in the context of Bangladesh. In the second session, Project Officer Shahinur Akter Shaheen facilitated a series of interactive games and participatory activities to enhance participants’ understanding of key human rights principles in an engaging and practical manner.
The programme concluded with an open feedback and reflection session, allowing participants to share their thoughts and learning experiences. Overall, the event served as a dynamic learning platform, successfully stimulating critical thinking among young participants through discussion, experience, and active participation.
