Aparajeyo Tarunno (UYP) Barishal Center recently organized a successful discussion event titled “Meet with Alumni.” Many participants joined in person, while others joined virtually. The session was chaired by Project Officer Salma Khanom and conducted by Youth Officer Joy Hari Biswas. The participating adolescents shared that UYP’s continuous activities have brought positive changes in their personal lives, family responsibilities, and social awareness. Through UYP sessions, they have learned about SRHR, menstrual hygiene, safe motherhood, prevention of child marriage, gender equality, and cyber safety.
They expressed that earlier they felt shy or hesitant to talk about puberty, personal hygiene, or health decisions. But UYP’s safe and open environment has helped them gain confidence, increase their knowledge, and motivate others as well. Many also mentioned that they can now explain safe motherhood and health-related myths with scientific understanding, which is creating positive change in their community.
At the end of the program, Project Officer Salma Khanom delivered the closing remarks and declared the session timely and highly successful.
