Establish Youth Health Council for UHC at Local Level – Rajshahi

On November 13, 2025, the Aparajeyo Tarunno (UYP) Rajshahi Unit organized a program titled “Establish Youth Health Council for UHC at Local Level” at the Rajshahi unit office room. Young people and local youth representatives took part in the event.

During the program, a 10-member Youth Health Council (YHC) was officially formed. Sabbir was selected as the Convener, while the remaining participants were chosen as Members.

Several topic-based sessions were held throughout the day:

  • Universal Health, Sexual and Reproductive Health & Rights (SRHR), and UHC
    These sessions were conducted by Dipty Sarker, Project Officer, UYP Rajshahi.

  • Youth Leadership, Mental Health, Community Health Awareness & Peer Education, Health Rights and Access to Services
    These topics were discussed by Md. Faridul Islam, Youth Officer, UYP Rajshahi.

  • Skill Development
    This session was led by Mentor Nurul Islam.

The program was chaired by Md. Mamunur Rahman, Unit Manager, RHSTEP, Rajshahi Medical.

The Chief Guest was Md. Obaidul Haque, Head Teacher of Mahishbathan Adarsha Girls’ High School.

The Special Guest was Md. Shamim, Ward Secretary, 24 No. Talaimari Shaheed Minar, Rajshahi.

Speakers discussed the importance of forming a Youth Health Council, its structure, and how it can work effectively at the local level. They assured the young participants of continuous guidance and support.

Later, Youth Advocate Jinia led the newly formed YHC team in taking an oath. At the end of the program, participants pledged to actively promote youth leadership and work toward ensuring Universal Health Coverage (UHC) at the community level. They also signed a commitment form.
