On November 15, 2025, UYP Rajshahi Center hosted a significant event titled āMeeting with Alumni.ā A total of 30 adolescents from Rajshahi Alo Pathshala, Shiroil Colony High School, and Terokhadia Colony participated. The event was chaired by Project Officer Dipti Sarkar and hosted by Youth Officer Md. Faridul Islam.
Throughout the day-long meeting, the adolescents enthusiastically shared how their involvement in UYP’s activities has brought about significant personal, social, and health-related changes.
Specifically, their knowledge and awareness have greatly increased on topics like SRHR (Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights), menstrual hygiene, maternal health awareness, prevention of child marriage, gender equality, eve-teasing, and cyber security. They mentioned that before, they lacked clear concepts on these issues. By joining UYP’s programs, they’ve gained a clear understanding of their rights, safety, and health, and they are now sharing this knowledge with their families, neighbors, and peers.
The participants also noted that they previously lacked sufficient knowledge about sexual and reproductive health. However, through UYP’s sessions and discussions, they can now speak confidently about these matters and take on responsible roles in protecting their own rights and those of others.
A community representative at the event affirmed that they are actively working to prevent child marriage in their area and are trying to increase public awareness. They stressed that UYP’s initiatives are strengthening their local efforts.
Project Officer Dipti Sarkar and Youth Officer Md. Faridul Islam listened carefully to the participants’ feedback, experiences, and questions. They discussed the participants’ future plans, needs, and areas of interest. Topics included how to involve them in more development activities and how to build local leadership among the youth.
