Health Advocacy Campaign at KUET: A Day of Awareness and Learning

 

The “Health Advocacy Campaign -1,” a day-long program, was held on November 8, 2025, organized by the Unbeatable Youth Power (UYP) Khulna Center at the SWC Auditorium of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET).

 

šŸ“ Program Highlights

 

The event was attended by 180 students from various schools and universities. The day’s activities included:

  • Health Olympiad Quiz
  • Impromptu Speech Competition
  • Training sessions on First Aid and Mental Health
  • Essay and Wall Magazine Competitions

 

šŸ—£ļø Key Messages

 

Project Officer Sujoy Chowdhury Shamya, UYP Khulna Center, welcomed the students in his inaugural speech, saying:

“Health awareness isn’t just about treatment; it’s also about mental and social well-being. Young people can spread the message of health awareness in society through their leadership and innovative thinking.”

The first session featured a health-related MCQ quiz and a speech competition, where students participated in teams. Topics included: First Aid, Nutrition, Adolescent Health, Mental Health, and Increasing Awareness.

In the second session, Adrita M. Hasan, Member of Spectrum, KUET, conducted a ā€œHealth, Advocacy, Primary Care and Mental Health Campaign Trainingā€ session. She taught students hands-on how to effectively run health campaigns and advocacy efforts.

 

šŸ† Closing Ceremony and Special Guests

 

Shah Muhammad Azmat Ullah, Assistant DSW, KUET, was the Chief Guest at the closing and prize-giving ceremony. He stated:

Health awareness and first aid knowledge are essential for every citizen. Young people are the driving force of change in society—if they become aware, their families and society will also be aware.”

Asif Shahriar, Assistant Professor, Department of IPE, KUET, a Special Guest, said:

Health awareness and education complement each other. Students should not keep this knowledge limited to themselves but should share it with society.”

Nahian Imdan Lamim, President of Spectrum, KUET, told the students:

“The interest and leadership of young people can build a health-aware society. This experience will be the foundation for your future work.”

Finally, Noshin Tabassum, Youth Officer of UYP Khulna Center, concluded:

“This program will develop students into health-aware, responsible, and leadership-oriented citizens. We plan to organize this event on a larger scale in the future by involving more school students.”

The organizers mentioned that the day-long event played a significant role in developing health awareness, teamwork, self-confidence, and leadership skills among the students.
