Watchdog Group Monitoring Adolescent Health Services
On November 6, 2025, members of the ‘Oporajeyo Tarunnyo’ Watchdog Group, operating under RHSTEP’s Unlocking Youth Potential (UYP) program, conducted a quality monitoring and evaluation of Adolescent Friendly Health Services (AFHS) at four selected health centers.
A final report presentation and discussion based on this monitoring activity were held in the UYP Dhaka Center hall room.
Monitoring Details
- Teams: 9 Watchdog Group members, divided into 2 teams.
- Monitored Centers:
- Sir Salimullah Medical Mitford Hospital, Mitford Road, Dhaka
- Government Employees Hospital, College Road, Dhaka
- Kurmitola General Hospital, Tongi, Dhaka
- Alo Clinic, Banani, Korail, Dhaka
- Evaluation Criteria: A Watchdog Monitoring Checklist was used to assess the service environment, confidentiality, accessibility of services, sensitivity of health workers, and service recipient satisfaction.

Key Highlights and Recommendations:
- Presentation: Youth Officer Zubayda Anjum Saba presented all the data and findings from the Watchdog monitoring.
- Appreciation: The guests praised the efforts of the ‘Oporajeyo Tarunnyo’ Watchdog Group and emphasized its importance.
- Feedback: The guests discussed gaps in hospital services and the quality of care, promising to inform senior officials of the issues.
- Dr. Manzur Hossain advised adolescents to seek treatment at hospitals under the Directorate of Family Planning and suggested implementing Watchdog monitoring in those facilities. He engaged the youth in an informal, story-based discussion.
- Dr. Asif Iqbal provided guidance on various aspects of health services, addressed the issue of internet addiction among today’s adolescents, and discussed nutrition, answering several questions from the participants.
The Watchdog event concluded with a lively and insightful discussion.
