Theater for SRHR
A socially conscious play, ‘We Are Changing,’ was staged at Mymensingh’s Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Park on October 25, 2025, as part of the ‘Theater for SRHR Awareness Program-1.’ Organized by Unlocking Youth Potential (UYP) Mymensingh Center, the program actively engaged local adolescents. Distinguished guests included the District Cultural Officer of Shilpakala Academy Mymensingh, Mr. Abdullah Al Mamun, as well as Mr. Sharif, Founding President of Chayanat Cultural Organization, and Mazfuzul Haq Apel. Resmina Haque, Project Officer of UYP Mymensingh Center, presided over the event, with Sanjay Chandra Roy, Youth Officer of UYP Mymensingh Center, serving as host. The event began with Sanjay Chandra Roy welcoming the attendees and providing a brief overview of UYP, RHSTEP, and SRHR. The program then featured a series of performances, including songs, poems, dances, and plays, with an audience of nearly five hundred people. Prior to the main play, Mr. Sharif and Mazfuzul Haq Apel addressed the audience, emphasizing the vital role of cultural practices in driving social change. They highlighted the need to confront deeply rooted superstitions and taboos surrounding sexual and reproductive health and rights through creative avenues such as music, poetry, dance, and drama. Both expressed hope that the play ‘We Are Changing’ would significantly raise awareness among adolescents. Following the speeches, the play was performed, and the event concluded with a musical performance.
